About Netris

Netris is the leading network automation platform for AI clouds. AI is the largest infrastructure buildout in history, and networking is its bottleneck. Netris is the automation and multi-tenancy layer for AI cloud networking, enabling operators to launch GPU clouds in weeks, provision tenants instantly, and maximize GPU utilization. The company experienced 800% ARR growth in the last 12 months, with 35+ live GPU cluster deployments globally and growing, and is backed by Andreessen Horowitz. SDN reinvented data center networking, and Netris is doing it for the AI cloud with NAAM: Network Automation, Abstraction, and Multi-Tenancy.

The role

You will own the architecture and implementation of the Netris Controller (orchestration backend).

This is a hands-on technical leadership role, not a whiteboard one. You will translate product requirements into system design, write the design documents, make the decisions that are expensive to reverse and review the code changes made according to your provided design.

What you’ll do

This role owns the following areas of the Netris Controller:

  • Backend architecture. Service boundaries, API contracts, data model, and the event flows that connect the backend services and the agent fleet.
  • The abstraction model. What network concepts we expose through the Netris Controller, and how those map onto fabrics built from different vendors’ hardware — so operators work in cloud terms and never have to think about what’s underneath.
  • Scale. Scaling the backend by orders of magnitude — deciding where the current design holds and where it needs rebuilding.
  • Technical direction. Running design and code reviews, writing the architecture documents, and raising the bar for the engineers building alongside you.

What we’re looking for

  • 8+ years building backend systems, including 3+ years leading architecture or technical direction on a significant system
  • Hands-on experience designing and operating distributed systems in production — not just using them
  • A track record of turning ambiguous, high-level requirements into designs other engineers can build from, and documenting them clearly
  • Experience with systems that manage infrastructure state: orchestration platforms, configuration management, device management, or similar

Technical Background

The successful candidate should be comfortable working with technologies commonly found in modern cloud infrastructure software, including:

  • Production experience with Go and Node.js
  • REST/ gRPC / protobuf API design
  • Databases (MariaDB / MySQL, MongoDB, Redis)
  • Message Brokers (NATS / JetStream)
  • Linux
  • Kubernetes
  • Terraform
  • CI/CD Pipelines

Compensation, benefits, logistics

  • Competitive Salary + equity
  • Santa Clara, CA (in-person with flexibility)
  • Medical, vision, dental, 401(k), disability insurance, flexible PTO (US; benefits vary by location)
