The role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This position will have broad responsibility across the accounting function, including month-end close, general ledger, revenue accounting, customer billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, sales tax, financial reporting, and accounting systems.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment and will be expected to take ownership of accounting processes while continuously improving efficiency, controls, and automation.

This individual will report to the Head of Finance.

What you’ll do

  • General Accounting & Close: Own monthly, quarterly, and year-end close; prepare journal entries and reconciliations; maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts; and prepare financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Billing & Accounts Receivable: Manage end-to-end subscription and professional/deployment services billing, including contract and invoice review, customer account reconciliations, AR aging, collections support, and billing-to-GL reconciliations.
  • Accounts Payable: Own the full AP cycle, including invoice processing, vendor management, employee reimbursements, payment runs, AP reconciliations, and vendor tax documentation and 1099 compliance.
  • Revenue & SaaS Accounting: Support revenue accounting and ASC 606 compliance, including contract analysis, deferred revenue, performance obligations, and accounting for software licenses and deployment services.
  • Sales Tax & Avalara: Oversee multi-state sales and use tax compliance through Avalara, including registrations, filings, reconciliations, exemption certificates, nexus analysis, and audit support.
  • Accounting Systems: Serve as a key user and subject-matter resource for NetSuite and QuickBooks, supporting system integrations, reporting, process improvements, automation, and system enhancements.
  • Audit, Tax & Compliance: Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors; prepare audit schedules; support federal, state, and local tax compliance; and maintain accurate accounting and compliance records.
  • Process Improvement & Internal Controls: Develop and document accounting procedures, strengthen internal controls, automate manual processes, and improve the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of accounting operations.

What we’re looking for

  • The ideal candidate has:
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Active CPA license required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
  • Significant hands-on experience with QuickBooks and NetSuite.
  • Hands-on experience with Avalara and multi-state sales tax compliance.
  • Experience managing billing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable processes.
  • Experience in a SaaS, technology, or high-growth company strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of ASC 606 and SaaS revenue recognition.
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of accounting processes.

Preferred qualifications

  • Big Four or large public accounting firm experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a venture-backed or high-growth technology company.
  • Experience with multi-state sales tax nexus and compliance.
  • Experience with NetSuite implementation, optimization, or integrations.
  • Experience with Avalara implementation or configuration.
  • Experience managing the full order-to-cash and procure-to-pay cycles.
  • Experience establishing or improving accounting processes in a growing company.
